Finshape is a software company focused on the digitalization of banking — its Digital Bank Operating System (DBOS) platform is used by banks on four continents. We have been working with Finshape on and off since 2015, and our team takes part in developing digital banking solutions built on DBOS. Our current focus is primarily a solution for a leading Egyptian Islamic bank, where together with Finshape we develop and integrate the backend for mobile and internet banking. Our developers also bring experience from other Finshape implementations in the Middle East and in Europe.

  • modernization of retail and corporate digital banking
  • connection to core banking and local services
  • secure operation in a regulated environment
  • support for local market specifics and Islamic banking

The bank needed to further develop its digital channels for individuals and companies and to offer clients more everyday banking services without visiting a branch. The new solution had to securely connect the mobile and web interfaces to the existing core banking, card and payment systems, and the bank's other services. At the same time, it had to account for local payment processes, both English and Arabic, and Islamic banking products.

So it was not only about a new user interface. The bank needed a stable integration and application layer on which it could roll out further services over time, without having to touch its core banking with every change.

  • development in close cooperation with Finshape's product and technical teams
  • modular backend and API-first architecture
  • integration of banking, payment and security systems
  • automated testing, deployment and versioned database changes
  • long-term environment support from development to production releases

Our developers are part of joint Finshape delivery teams — three are currently involved in the projects, and at the largest scope there were five. They take part in requirements analysis, API design, implementation of backend services, system integrations, automated tests and release preparation. We adapt the general DBOS platform to the processes of the particular bank and connect it to the bank's internal and external systems.

The solution covers, for example, user registration and self-service, strong authentication and work with security tokens, management of accounts, cards and payees, domestic and internal payments, statements, exchange rates, term deposits, cheque services and products such as Murabaha. The backend is split into independently deployable services with clearly defined interfaces. Containerized operation, automated quality checks and a repeatable release process make it easier to deliver changes safely across the development, testing and banking environments.

  • modern digital banking for retail and corporate clients
  • more banking operations available securely at a distance
  • a single integration layer over the bank's systems
  • architecture ready for further features and growth
  • ongoing development and technological support

The result of this joint work is a continuously developed platform that gives the bank's clients access to key banking services through mobile and internet banking. Users can securely work with accounts, cards, deposits and payments, while the bank gains a modular foundation for introducing further digital processes.

The cooperation does not end with a single deployment. The team takes part in further releases, functionality expansion, integration and operational requirements, and technology updates. Thanks to that, the platform can evolve together with the needs of the bank and its clients.

The cooperation with Finshape reaches beyond a single banking project. Some of our people also take part in the DBOS implementation for the largest Islamic bank in the United Arab Emirates, where the goal is to combine the principles of Islamic banking with modern, personalized digital services. Other team members previously worked on a solution for a large Romanian bank, including digital services for corporate and SME clients.

Experience from different countries and banking segments helps us quickly get oriented in differing local processes, regulation and integrations. The common denominator remains secure architecture, stable operation and the ability to deliver new features continuously in an environment where reliability is essential.
